583. an audacious Kazak Caucasian rug
583. Provenance: Lori Pambak or Kazak, Georgia/Armenia, The Caucasus
Size: 194 x 130 cm
Age: Circa 1940
Condition: Good.
Notes: A striking three-medallion design typical of the Lori-Pambak area of southern Georgia/northern Armenia. The colours however are atypical, as light or cream grounds are rare. This is not a tribal rug of great age, but it does continue the tribal design elements of its predecessors. The dyes used are also excellent and this piece will enliven and enrich the right space beautifully.
