339. Provenance: The Caucasus. Possibly Gendje, or even Kurdish from Persian Azerbiajan
Size: 315 x 99 cm
Age: Circa 1900
Condtion: Some areas of lower pile. Otherwise good.
Notes: This unusual runner appears to be of Caucasian origin, possibly Gendje or Kazak. However, such rugs are notoriosly hard to ascribe with certainty, and it may be a work of Kurdish weavers, from further south in Persian Azerbaijan. It has a soft pink madder field and generally pleasing colours.
