978. an effusive old Qashqa'i Persian rug
978. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy, Fars Province, Persia (or Afshar?)
Age: Circa 1940
Size: 184 x 158 cm
Condition: Very good with just minor losses, fully secured, at the ends.
Notes: Glorious rich colouring for which Qashqa'is are often known. Dark browns and indigo blues, with expressive 'abrush' (natural variation in colour shade due to absorbancy characteristics of hand spun wool, and variations in natural dye skeins). The patterns in the borders share similarites with the neighbouring Afshar tribal weavings.
