382. A noble old Bidjar Persian Rug
382. Provenance: Kurdish weavers, Bidjar, NW Persia
Age: Circa 1920
Size: 200 x 133 cm
Condition: Good for age, with very minor areas of lower pile, and minor (fully secured) loss at one end.
Notes: Bidjars are known as the 'iron man' of Persian rugs, such is their structural strength & compactness of their weave. This one has a fine rendition of the 'mina khani' pattern, included also within the central medallion, and uses fine natural dyestuffs including a madder root red in the field and a vibrant light indigo in the details.
