894. an exuberant old Kazak Caucasian rug
894. Provenance: Kazak village area, northeast Armenia, The Caucasus
Size: 277 x 170 cm
Age: Circa 1940
Condition: Very good.
Notes: Classic tribal Kazak designs in this mid-century piece. The field is somewhat busy but the overall effect is one of clever harmony and elegance. Strong primary dyes add to the bold tribal drawing. The main border with its eloquent use of turquoise and indigo frames the piece magnificently.
