828. Provenance: Ersari tribe, Turkoman group of tribes, northern Afghanistan

Size: 170 x 130 cm

Age: Circa 1930

Condition: Good. V. minor loss at one kilim end.

Notes: A really attractive smallish old Ersari filpai (or 'elephant foot'), with 6 large guls (stylized flowerhead medallions). This piece is notable for it's fine madder-rich burgundy colouring, soft hand-spun mountain wool and appealing abrush (variation in colour due to changes in yarn absorbency and/or dye batch). It's ends are quirkilly different.
