652. Provenance: Malayer, western Persia

Size: 554 x 143 cm

Age: Circa 1920-30

Condition: Very good for age.

Notes:  Wow! This is a glorious Malayer runner, with natural dyestuffs and deep, deep pile. It is in excellent condition for its age, but please note, it is very long and unusually wide. It would be ideal in a large hallway or even under a banquet-style dining table. The soft wool pile is deep and the whole piece weighs a ton! (ok, not literally). I love it's somewhat Herati-like design, which is brought to vivid life with the inclusion of birdlife, animals, stylized flowerheads and tribal motifs throughout. The pale duckegg blue (or dare I say Vervet monkey ball-blue?) border is the perfect frame. A unique and wonderful piece.
