592. a highly irregular Heriz Persian rug
592. Provenance: Heriz, Northwest Persia
Size: 290 x 147cm
Age: Circa 1960
Condition: Excellent.
Notes: This one takes quircky to a new level. Why has it been woven truncated? This rug hasn't been cut or shortened after weaving (as can be seen by the borders), but has been woven like this. Did the weavers run out of wool? Dyes? Time? Was it a mistake? Other than the crazy design, this is a typical, solid, heavy and well-structured Heriz rug. Are you a symmetrical asymmetrical type?
