281. An adorable Afshar (?) long rug

281. Provenance: Afshar Tribe, Southern Persia

Size: 300 148 cm

Age: Circa 1920

Condition: Generally good. Minor loss at ends (stopped by professional). One very small re-weave, & one 15cm long repaired tear.

Notes: This one confuses me. It is full of tribal motifs, pseudo-floral rosettes, and has colouring reminiscent of an Afshar, but I'm not certain. Whatever its origins it has great colours and design - a lovely and unusual runner.
