458. an electric old Maslaghan Persian rug
458. Provenance: Maslaghan, Western Persia
Age: Circa 1920
Condition: Good. Just very minor losses at one end - fully and professionally secured.
Notes: These are one of the most unusual rugs of the Hamadan region of West Persia. A bizarre medallion dominates the field with a central short hooked hexagon sparingly filled with rosettes. As is usual, a white serated line - the 'lightning pattern' - seperates the medallion from the field, itself full of rosettes. A great combination of strong vibrant colours and the soft undyed wool in the centre. A particularly fine example of the type.
