Age: Circa 1920

Condition: Good for age, with just minor patches of lower pile.

Notes: The devil is in the detail with these Afghan 'elephant foot' carpets - they have been weaving similar designs since 1880. This one has wonderful soft rust madder colouring with natural abrush (variations in colour depth influenced by changes in dye batches and in the density/absorbtion of the hand-spun wool). A rare beauty and hugely versatile in terms of interior design.
