919. Provenance: Afghanistan (?). Design is from Caucasus, specifically Akstafa

Size: 170 x 130 cm

Age: 1980 to present

Condition: Very good.

Notes: A lovely rug with great colours, design & wool quality. It isn't old and is very much in a tribal-inspired design from the caucasus, featuring an unusual four-legged peacock kind of a creature similar to those common in Akstafa weavings. It isn't old however, and the quality of the weave, the kilim ends and general workmanship suggest Afghan origins.
