971. a dignified antique Baluch Afghan

971. Provenance: Baluch tribal, Herat area, Western Afghanistan

Size: 240 x 145 cm

Age: circa 1910

Condition: Fair for age, but several areas of old moth damage to front and back, hence the low price.

Notes:  Gorgeous Baluch design of running hooked (ram-head inspired?) motifs in diamond form. The simple yet effective design and the pausity of colours (natural) gives a dignified, austere look to this piece. Abrush (variations in shade town to varying handspun wool skeins/dye batches) lends even more depth and life. The photo (sorry, out of focus at edges) does not do it justice. That said, it does have some damaged areas from moth attack (old), so it is priced accordingly.
