646. Provenance: Kazak group (possibly Bordjalou Kazak), Georgia/Armenia borders, The Caucasus
Size: 220 x 120 cm
Age: Circa 1890
Condition: Mostly good for its high age. No major issues, but allover low pile.
Notes: A stunning Kazak with three compartmentalized serated diamond medallions, surrounded by a wealth of tribal motifs, stylized 'botehs' and even the odd pack animal or two. Wonderful colours including an abundance of yellow (probably pomegranate) and madder/walnut. Various shades of Indian indigo, including a beautiful turquoise mix in one medallion. The floral border is reminiscent of Karabagh or even Talish rugs. Collectable.
