479. Provenance: Tekke tribe, Turkoman group, Turkmenistan

Size: 336 x 230 cm

Age: Circa 1900

Condition: Mostly very good for age, with allover short pile, but there is one small patch of damage at one end.

Notes: A classic Tekke, with fine weaving using glossy wool for the pile and wool for the warps and wefts. Restrained, understated design of rows of major and minor guls framed by a variety of gorgeous borders and with 'elem' panels at both ends. Collectable antique. Would cost more if not for minor damage.
