358. Provenance: Ersari tribe, Turkoman, Northern Afghanistan/Turkmenistan border

Size: 380 x 260 cm

Age: circa 1910

Condition: Good.

Notes: A lovely tribal antique main carpet, in soft glossy wool and natural dyes, particularly the root, madder. The spacing of the large 'elephant foot' guls is especially nice. Notice how the border is more cramped at one end than the other - technically a 'mistake', but I love these quirky variations in real tribal woven goods.
