Age: Circa 1910

Condtion: Overall good, though this rug has been reduced in size at both ends.

Notes: Most Chakansur carpets featuring this elegant 'kalam donneh' (pencil box) design were of reasonably large size. While quite sombre this rug uses all natural dyes and a superb glossy wool, which gives a wonderful lustre. The Baluch from Chakansur would in olden times seasonally migrate north and pieces such as this one could be found in the Gulran district of Badghis Province.
