297. Provenance: Ersari Tribe, Turkoman group of tribes, Northern Afghanistan

Age: Circa 1890

Size: 292 x 224 cm

Condition: Uneven wear. Minor damage to one of kilim ends.

Notes: This is a beautiful and old Ersari main carpet, with the eternal 'elephant foot' gul. It dates from around the turn of the century. Although there is a fair amount of wear, it does retain it's original kilim ends which is a major plus. Colour-wise, there is a change in shade from one end to the other, indicating a change in dye batch. A glorious, if slightly faded, rug.
