766. a lively tribal Qashqa'i Persian rug
766. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars Province, south central Iran
Age: Circa 1960
Size: 260 x 160 cm
Condition: Good.
Notes: A classic Qashqa'i tribal rug of this era, using older, tradtional motifs, but with more pronounced, vigorous colouring, including the use of a lot of orange (a more modern favourite among many tribes). Somewhat more unusual is the all-over floral/vegetation theme. The border and the four corner medallions are somewhat classic.
