383. Provenance: Afshar tribe (?), Southern Persia

Age: Circa 1930

Size: 186 x 124 cm

Condition: Good.

Notes: A harmoniously simple and unusual design, with a fine use of natural dyes, particularly indigo and madder. The hand-spun wool is soft and glossy and the outer border guard is particularly attractive. Could be Afshar from the Northeast of Persia (where the Afshars, related to the Turkoman tribes, settled as well as in the south of Persia).
