927. an artistic malayer northwest persian rug

natural dyed old antique malayer persian rug

927. Provenance: Malayer, North West Persia

Age: circa 1930

Condition: Good.

Notes: Really beautiful and artistic design, with oversized, stylized flowerheads on a lattice of stalks. Each flower is individual and expressive - the epitomy of a hand-woven, weaver-conceived village piece. The natural abrush (variation in shade created by varying absorbancy/elasticity of the handspun wool) adds to the individuality and character. Rich indigo field and a wonderful, light indigo border work in perfect harmony.
