533. a serene antique northwest Persian runner
532. Provenance: Northwest Persian Azerbaijan, possibly Kurdish
Size: 290 x 100 cm
Age: Circa 1890
Condition: Fair for old age. Minor wear in field and loss to kilim at one end, with minor losses at other.
Notes: A lovely, dignified northwest Persian runner, with a calming repeat of the famous 'boteh' motif, precursor to the Paisley design. This runner has a soft, flexible handle, and is well-woven in glossy wool. The dyes are natural and have been softened with age. This is an unostentatious piece of woven art.
