511. an intoxicating antique Senneh-Malayer Persian rug
511. Provenance: Kurdish weavers, Senneh/Malayer, Northwest Persia
Size: 198 x 124 cm
Age: Circa 1900
Condition: Overall even low pile. Otherwise good.
Notes: A lovely rendition of the famous 'boteh' motif (precursor to the Paisley teardrop pattern), featurning large, hooked-edged botehs all running in the same direction. Small tribal motifs fill the gaps in the field, and show the tribal roots of the Kurdish weavers. Natural dyes and good, even weave.
