451. Provenance: European, probably Spanish

Size: 390 x 291 cm

Age: Circa 1920

Condition: Generally very good for age, with evenly cropped pile.

Notes: I am pretty confident that this is a European carpet from the early 20th century, probably from Spain. It is certainly modelled on Persian carpets, most obviously those from Tabriz in Northwest Persia. The pastle colours are subtle and geared towards Western sensibilities. An elegant reminder of a lost era.
