905. a sweet old Qashqa'i khorjin or saddle-bag
905. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars province, southern Persia
Size: 60 x 51 cm
Age: Circa 1920
Condition: Good. Only minor losses at end.
Notes: A charming small bagface, with a main panel with stylized boteh (teardrop shaped motifs, the precursor to the Paisley pattern) in each corner. This was probably a 'vanity bag', for storing womens' jewellery or other beauty items, but it may have been half of a small saddle bag.
