849. Provenance: Afshar, or Qashaqa'i or tribal west Persian (?), Persia

Size: 210 x 153 cm

Age: circa 1920

Condition: Low pile and some patches of heavier wear.

Notes: A strong and vibrantly drawn and coloured rug, with primary hues and bold geometric design. Strong shades of natural indigo, and rich madder, all set off with a judicious use of ivory wool. The borders, both major and minor are stunning, with the very outer border containing a line of botehs. Despite the low pile this is a gem.
