525. a stunning old Qashqa'i tribal Persian rug
525. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars Province, SW Persia
Size: 285 x 204 cm
Age: Circa 1940
Condition: Generally very good, but there are losses, fully secured, at one end
Notes: An unsual and very interesting tribal Qashqa'i rug, with two lines of joined, hook-edged diamond medallions, surrounded by highly stylized floral motifs. A surprisingly geometric rug, in pale colours, that lend it an almost Aztec feel. Woven in soft, lustrous wool on a woolen foundation.
