835. Provenance: Yomut or Yomud tribe, Turkoman tribes, Turkmenistan

Age: Circa 1920

Size: 95 x 66 cm

Condition: Good.

Notes: Price: A very pleasing kilim piece with soumak overweave design. The Yomut kepse gul dominates. This would have been used as a storage bag in the tribal yurt (circular tent made of animal hides), and would originally had a plainweave back. Lacking that, it is known in the trade as a 'bagface'. Hence my website's name!
