618. Provenance: Kerman, south central Persia

Size: 322 x 240 cm

Age: Circa 1900

Condition: Pretty good for age. Some areas of heavier wear. Minor staining though has been professionally cleaned since photo.

Notes:  A gorgeous bouquet of a carpet! Lush depiction of floral abundance in the field with a bold and totally balanced darker main border. Natural dyes throughout and wonderful Carmania wool of the highest order. Some might find this to be a bit 'chintzy' or reminiscent of grandmother. I disagree (not that there's anyting wrong with Granny!) - this is pure, classic Kerman, in cool, subtle colours. A period masterpiece.
