409. a masterly antique Baluch bagface

409. Provenance: Baluch (Timuri?) tribal, Western Afghanistan

Size: 84 x 75 cm

Age: Circa 1890

Condition: Damage to corners, and wear.

Notes:  Fabulous natural dyes, particularly the vibrant mid-blue indigo, as well as the warm red/brown madder shade, and the dark mauvish-brown. Interesting and archaic design elements, including the Soloman's stars in the main border. This piece would have been part of a saddle-bag. It no longer has it's plain-weave bag, or it's matching twin.
