924. another appealing old Persian kilim

Old Persian kilim

924. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes (?) Fars Province, southern Persia

Size: 207cm x 140cm

Age: Circa 1940

Condition: Good with just minor re-weaves.

Notes: A simple but highly effective tribal kilim. It has been woven in two pieces, and then stitched together - this is testament to its tribal origins, as nomadic herders often travel only with small looms that can be more easily transported by donkey or camel. The strengh of this piece (and its sister, #924), is its wondeful natural dyes and its vivid pale indigo.

Price is for the pair. Individually they are £300 each
