Antique Kurdish or possibly Qashqa'i bagface

887. Provenance: Kurdish tribes, northwestern Persia

Age: Circa 1900

Condition: Good for its age, though minor losses at one end.

Notes: A really lovely piece, packed with tribal motifs, a flowerhead elim, and using the most beautiful dyes, notably the quite rare turquoise shade. This small bag or chanta would have been used for personal possessions, and hung within the yurt.
