874. Provenance: Qashqa'i Confederacy of Tribes, Fars Province, Southern Persia

Size: 300 x 223 cm 

Age: circa 1900

Condition: Heavy wear, minor loss at ends, and somewhat scruffy selvedges (sides).

Notes: A pretty classic Qashqa'i (or 'Shiraz', from associated tribes, named after the city through which they tend to reach the market), with three medallions surrounded by an abundance of tribal motifs, including many botehs (the precursor of the famous 'Paisley' design). A true tribal piece with an all-wool construction.
