506. Provenance: Baluch tribal, Northeast Persia or possibly Afghanistan

Age: Circa 1920

Size: 185 x 93 cm

Condition: Minor losses at ends, with slightly damaged corners. Corrosion of the dark brown wool (normal in old Baluches) causing no structural damage.

Notes: A charming rendition of the ancient 'boteh' (precursor to the Paisley design), tear-shaped symbol, this time drawn as near-upright animals, each containing a star motif. A well-spaced hooked meander border in dark brown and warm madder red/brown.
