20. Provenance: Dhagestan, Caucasus ref: Fokker, p60

Size: 143 x110cm

Age: Circa 1900

Condition: Good but there have been some expert repairs to the pile and there are small areas of lower pile.

Colour: Natural dyes combine with undyed wool. Subdued palette of light green/brown, and russet red (madder root). The overall effect is one of subtle understatement.

Design: The repeat motif of flower vases typical of Dhagestan small rugs.

Structure: Excellent wool with a coarse but strong weave. Wool pile on wool foundation.
